Below are some of the dogs and puppies in our care. Most desperately need loving homes where they can live a long, happy, healthy life. Others can not be rehomed and urgently need patrons although we welcome the patronage of any of our dogs. Please remember we have other dogs at the centre not on this list at the moment.

She is one of nine puppies rescued from a private kennel at only 1 day old. The puppies all had to be hand fed, sadly five of her siblings died but one has been adopted. She was found on a road in a very bad condition and is the sister of Boss and Martim. Luna and her four siblings were found abandoned in cardboard box on freezing cold morning. Sadly one puppy died but two have been rehomed.	Hello my name is Iris Age: 2 Years. Size: Medium. Vaccinated: Yes. Microchip: Yes. Sterilized: No. Story: Iris is a beautiful dog with one eye blue and one brown. She is very intelligent and playful although she is not too keen on being touched. We believe this is just because she hasn't had much human contact in her life and the right owner could change this. Story: Mia is a gorgeous dog who is very smart and one particularly that we can not understand why she hasn't found a family yet. She is very good natured and playful and likes making friends with all humans and dogs. Mia was rescued from the municiple kennels in Seia with her sister Banze. Microchip: Yes. Sterilized: No. Story: Aldeia was rescued from the municipal kennels in Gouveia after being found in the town of Aldeia. Microchip: Yes. Sterilized: No. Story: Avela was one of four puppies given up by an owner that could not afford to keep them, three have been adopted but Avela is still looking for a home. Sterilized: No. Story: Julieta is a friendly dog but wants to be boss so we feel she is unsuitable for rehoming with other dogs. Julieta had been adopted at two months old with a family but two years later had five puppies and so the family gave her back to the centre with the puppies.

Story: Lucky is a bright, loving dog desperate for a chance to have a family after years in kennels. She is good with other dogs that are smaller than her but can be aggressive towards bigger dogs. Lucky was found in the streets of Gouveia and taken to the muicipal kennels where we rescued her from. She was ill when rescued but is now a healthy dog. Patron - Fraser May. She is a sweet natured dog who likes to stay close to people. Patron Li Dias.	Hello my name is Piccolena Age: 9 Years. Size: Large. Vaccinated: Yes. Microchip: Yes. Sterilized: Yes. Story: Piccolena is good with people but not with other dogs. She needs some space and would be an ideal dog to have at on a quinta. She is a quiet dog but a good guard dog. Piccolena was found in the road in Gouveia, she was very skinny and tired with burnt feet. When taken to the centre she ate a huge bowl of food and then slept for 24 hours. Patron - Catherine Butt.
Hello my name is Eleven Age: 3 Years Size: Large Vaccinated: Yes Microchip: Yes Sterilized: No Story: Eleven is crossed with a German Shephard. She was rescued from the municipal kennels. She was found in a small, dirty kennel with eleven puppies, hence her name. Unfortunately three of her puppies died but some have be adopted, some are still waiting for homes. She is a quiet good natured dog who likes to play, she will sit and give her paw on command.	Hello my name is Pintas Age: 2 Years. Size: Small. Vaccinated: Yes. Microchip: Yes. Sterilized: No. Story: Pintas was rescue from the municipal kennel. She is good with people but not with some other dogs. She will need intense training but could become a lovely friend. She is a social dog, great with people and other dogs. She walks on the lead and is a well behaved dog. She is a lovely dog but nervous of people and doesn't like being touched by strangers. She just needs someone with a little patience and a big heart. The local vet called the centre and asked for her to be taken in as she is such a lovely dog. She is sociable, great with people and other dogs and is cute and cuddly. she urgently needs a home before she becomes institutionalized!

He is the brother of Martim and was found on a road in a bad condition. He is unusal as he was born a hermaphrodite meaning he has both male and female sexual organs. After sterilization Teco will be a male as that seems to be what is most prominant. Teco and his four siblings were found abandoned in cardboard box on freezing cold morning. Sadly one puppy died but two have already been rehomed. Teco has sponsor at the moment :)

He is a quiet dog, loving and well behaved. He is good on a lead and in a car and good with people and other dogs.	Hello my name is Brutus Age: 2 Years Size: Large Vaccinated: Yes Microchip: Yes Sterilized: No Story: Brutus is the heaviest dog at the centre, he has a really good nature, he really is a gentle giant! He is a powerful dog and needs some more training but would be a wonderful addition to any family. He needs to be around other dogs and can sometimes be unsure of women. Sterilized: No. Story: Clifford will be an amazing addition to someones life and we can not understand why he hasn't found a home yet. He is a very sweet natured and playful dog. He is good around people and other dogs, although he eats a lot! Clifford was abandoned at the centre after the owner was told we had no room. Sterilized: No. Story: Hobbes is a lovely dog but needs someone with lots of patience to train him and help rid him of bad behaviour. Sterilized: No. Story: Pica-pau needs intense training, he is not sure about other dogs and people but could be a well behaved family member with the right person. Patron - Silvia Cardoso.
Hello my name is Tarzan Age: 2 Years. Size: Medium. Vaccinated: Yes. Microchip: Yes. Sterilized: Yes. Story: Tarzan will need special attention for a while but we believe he can become a well behaved addition to a family. Tarzan lived for three years at the municipal kennel in Aveiro after being taken from a violent owner. He was very scared and nervous. The kennel was due to be closed down because of the terrible conditions and all the dogs were to be killed.	Hello my name is Tomas Age: 5 Years. Size: Medium. Vaccinated: Yes. Microchip: Yes. Sterilized: Yes. Story: Tomas was rescued from the municipal kennels, he was very sick with no hair but is now very healthy. He does not get on with male dogs and can jump high fences. He can walk on the lead and is happy in a car. He loves people but is a quiet dog. Tomas has a patron :) Patron - Margarida Pinto Martins.	Hello my name is Toze Age: 11 Years. Size: Small. He was found in the road near to the centre, he gets on with most dogs but can be a typical grumpy old man at times! Patron - Carla Pereira.
Hello my name is Caramelo Age: 3 Years Size: Large Vaccinated: Yes Microchip: Yes Sterilized: Yes Story: Caramelo was found on the streets of Gouveia and obviously had a family. He is sociable, good with people and female dogs but not with male dogs. He is a gorgeous looking dog and really needs a new home.	Hello my name is Charlie Age: 2 Years Size: Medium Vaccinated: Yes Microchip: Yes Sterilized: No Story: Charlie is the brother of Tuli. He is social and good with people and other dogs. Charlie would love a new loving home.	Hello my name is Gypsi Age: 2 Years Size: Large Vaccinated: Yes Microchip: Yes Sterilized: Yes Story: Gypsi came from an Egyption dog, someone wanted to rehome him but decided against it at the last minute. Tuli is Charlies brother but unlike Charlie, Tuli is afraid of people and needs someone caring and understanding to take him on and show him that all humans are not bad! He is a sociable dog who can walk on lead and will ride in a car with no problem. He does display signs of anxiety with obsessive behavior but with patience we are sure he could be retrained. He is social and good with people and female dogs. He will probably be fine with male dogs after castration.
Hello my name is Estica Age: 2 Years Size: Medium Vaccinated: Yes Microchip: Yes Sterilized: No Story: Estica was left at the door of the municipal kennels in Seia where we rescued him from. He is good with people and other dogs and has a nice nature.	Hello my name is Snow Age: 5 Years Size: Medium Vaccinated: Yes Microchip: Yes Sterilized: Yes Story: Snow was found living on the streets of Sabugueiro, a village high up in the Serra da Estrela mountains in January 2014. It was freezing cold and snowy hence his name. He is good on a lead, in car, and with people and dogs.	Hello my name is Black Beauty Age: 3 Years Size: Medium Vaccinated: No Microchip: No Sterilized: No Story: Black Beauty was abandoned at the Cantinho at the beginning of March 2014. He walks well on the lead, is happy in a car and is good with people and other dogs. He was very skinny when abandoned but is recovering well and gaining weight.
Hello my name is Sucatinha Age: 8 Years Size: Small Vaccinated: No Microchip: No Sterilized: Yes Story: Sucatinha was rescued from an owner who kept him in a tiny cage. He sometimes holds his front leg up where the nerves have been damaged from the cramped conditions he was living in. Sucatinha urgently needs adoption where there are no dogs and no stress. He has a disease caused by stress where his body releases hormones to fight an imaginary threat. This causes a skin condition, he URGENTLY needs adopting!

Bo really needs a patron.	Hello my name is Linda Sex: Female Age: 5 Years Size: Medium Vaccinated: Yes Microchip: Yes Sterilized: Yes Story: Linda was rescued from the municipal kennels with her five puppies. Linda hates to be touched and bites people so cannot be rehomed. She urgently needs some patrons for financial support.	Hello my name is Bauonesa Sex: Female. Age: 5 Years. Size: Medium. Vaccinated: Yes. Microchip: Yes. Sterilized: Yes. Story: Bauonesa was rescued from a school where she had made herself a home, she was eating only scraps and was quite unhealthy. Bauonesa is our only pure bred dog and is a Podenco Ibicenco or Ibizan Hound, a dog used for hunting. Bauonesa currently has a patron :) Patron - Silvia Santos.
Hello my name is Schiquinho Sex: Male Age: 3 Years Size: Medium Vaccinated: Yes Microchip: Yes Sterilized: Yes Story: Schiquinho was found in a hole at 5 months old with his three brothers. They all got rehomed but Schiquinho has never really let anyone touch him. Unfortunatly he does bite and so cannot be rehomed. He desperately needs some patrons for financial support.	Hello my name is Catarina Sex: Female. Age: 9 Years. Size: Large. Vaccinated: Yes. Microchip: Yes. Sterilized: No. Story: Catarina was found chained to a metre long leash with no food, water or shelter, her puppy had been taken from her and tied up a few metres away in the same conditions. She is not trained and can be quite scared, she can also jump high fences.	Hello my name is Nando Sex: Male Age: 2 Years Size: Medium Vaccinated: Yes Microchip: Yes Sterilized: No Story: Nando is the brother of Iris, rescued from an owner who asked for help as she had a female dog with lots of puppies. He doesn't let anyone touch him.
Hello my name is Jane Sex: Female Age: 5 Years Size: Medium Vaccinated: Yes Microchip: No Sterilized: Yes Story: Jane was rescued with Tarzan from abusive owners and were at the municipal kennels in Aveiro. When the kennels closed they came to the Cantinho. Jane has behavior problems and needs intensive training and a lot of love should she be rehomed.	Hello my name is Calimero Sex: Male Age: 2 Years Size: Small Vaccinated: Yes Microchip: Yes Sterilized: No Story: Calimero is the brother of Pica-pau and Zara and son of Mel, rescued from the municipal kennels in Seia. He does not let anyone touch him and urgently needs a patron.	Hello my name is Harrison Sex: Male Age: 13 Years Size: Large Vaccinated: Yes Microchip: Yes Sterilized: No Story: Harrison was rescued from the municipal kennels in Gouveia after one of our volunteers saw the horrific conditions the dogs lived in and the terrible state Harrison was in. He very skinny, like a skeleton and very unhealthy, he is now recovering well. He has leishmaniasis and will need medication for the rest of his life. Patron - Ana Vanessa da Silva.
Hello my name is Francisca Sex: Female Age: 6 Years Size: Large Vaccinated: Yes Microchip: Yes Sterilized: No Story: Francisca was found in the forest with twelve, two week old puppies. She was very skinny and weak and had to be forced to eat. The puppies had to be weaned early, two went to separate new homes and the remaining ten all live on a farm together now. Patron - Liliana Dos Santos.	Hello my name is Carolina Sex: Female Age: 4 Years Size: Small Vaccinated: Yes Microchip: Yes Sterilized: No Story: Carolina was found in the street with three puppies and taken to the municipal kennels in Seia where she was rescued from. All her puppies have found new forever homes but Carolina is very nervous of people and will not let anyone near her.
